The chapter explained how I manage my day-to-day tasks. I use data abstraction every day so I do not become overwhelmed. For example, when I read chapters, I outline the material and pull out the major topics and reasoning instead of trying to remember every word. Instead of remembering 250 words on a page, I can reduce it to about 25 key words or ideas.
I use a spreadsheet for each class, with columns representing topics, class times, due dates, and remarks, and I update it on a weekly basis. I take the information presented in class and from weekly online reviews and narrow it down into summaries of the main topics. If I tried to write everything down that was said, I would not understand it because of the large amount of material.
This makes me think about how we use Blackboard and Canvas for college classes. These are learning management systems that help us access grades and course materials at any time. We do not need to understand the database structure behind how they work; with just a few clicks, all the information is available for us to view.
